Rogue Tech CollectiveUtilizing Southern Oregon Edge profiles, and a flyer outlining key positions at each company, SOREDI and RWP shared job opportunities with numerous students who will be entering the workforce in the next several years. Companies represented included: Met One Instruments, Pro Care Software, Rogue Valley Microdevices, Radio Design Group, Zeal, Carestream, Diode Laser Concepts, Quantum Innovations, Linx Technologies, Harry & David, and Lithia – all of which offer various high-tech positions in engineering fields.

The Rogue Tech Collective represent numerous other high-tech companies in the region, as well, that are joining to create increased awareness of the growing and diverse set of high-tech businesses in Southern Oregon and the current and future workforce needs. Key supporting members also include Lifeline Computers and CBT Nuggets based in downtown Medford. The group is already planning additional regional tech industry tours for prospective students, educators, and the public at large, including plans to bring over Computer Science students from Oregon Tech later this spring and in the fall to meet with local tech companies, network, and tour the region. The events will also be open to SOU and RCC students.

According to Adam Cuppy, co-founder of Zeal, the environment and culture in Southern Oregon is great making it easy to attract talent. “We get people who are tired of a 45-minute drive to work.” Adam adds that the regional has a cultural and social pace that is diverse.

Colleen Padilla also notes that with the Milken Institutes recent rankings of both the Medford/Ashland and Grants Pass MSA’s on the “Best Performing Small Cities” list, the region is gaining momentum as a great place to small tech companies to launch, relocate, and prosper. “SOREDI has always been committed to helping our key industries grow. Our work with the Rogue Tech Collective to help them promote their respective companies and attract key personnel is just one of many ways we are poised to help business prosper. This was a successful opening event the group and we’ve returned with many resumes of prospective interns and future employees.”
