Business Accelerator Bootcamp

The Business Planning Bootcamp covers the essentials of business, marketing, financial, and operational planning. By the end, you’ll have key sections of your business plan drafted and a clearer path for launching or expanding your business.

This hands-on course includes two workshops (three hours each, six hours total). Bring a laptop if you prefer, or use the paper template provided.

Workshop Breakdown:

Business & Marketing Planning- Learn core planning steps used by successful business owners. Explore your target customers, marketing strategies, and how to build strong connections.

Financial & Operations Planning- Review important financial and operational tools: projections, reports, cost of goods/services, operating expenses, and pricing.

You will begin drafting your business plan during both sessions.

Who Should Attend: Anyone ready to start or grow a business—whether you’re moving beyond the idea stage, registered with the State of Oregon, refining an existing plan, or shifting from part-time to full-time operations.

Before you invest your time and money, this two-hour workshop helps you take an honest look at whether your idea has real potential. You’ll walk through the key pieces of a successful launch, including marketing, operations, funding, and your own readiness as a business owner.

If you register for Smart Start Your Business and your idea involves another / several other people, they may attend with you at no charge.

Understanding Business Financial Statements

Running a small business means making big decisions often with limited financial data. In this 6-hour class, held over two afternoons, you’ll gain the knowledge and tools to better understand your business’s financial strength. You’ll learn how to take your income and expense information and transform it into a clear, usable financial statement. More than just bookkeeping, this class will show you how to interpret that data to make smarter, more confident operational and investment decisions. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to grow, this class will help you take control of your numbers and your business future.

In this two-part class, you’ll learn how to get the most out of your Google Business Profile and walk away with tools to improve your search rankings, website performance, and overall online presence — no tech background required.

You’ll learn how to:

• Fully optimize your Google Business Profile to increase visibility and engagement

• Strengthen your local SEO with simple, effective strategies that help customers find you

• Market locally on a budget using smart techniques beyond just Google

• Build credibility through citations by listing your business in the right places

• Improve your website’s technical SEO with image optimization, clear heading structure, and more

Whether you already have a Google Business Profile or need help setting one up, this class will give you clear, actionable steps to grow your local presence, even if you’re starting from scratch.

Oregon CCB Contractor Education

Live, Instructor-Led In a Classroom Setting

Required for Construction Contractors Board licensing

INSTRUCTORS: Hugh Griffiths & Michael Sellers

  • Contractor license applicants must obtain a CCB license within two years of passing the Oregon pre-license test.
  • Requirements for Registration: Anyone registering for contractor education for licensing must provide a copy of any of the following government-issued photo ID:
    1. driver’s license
    2. DMV ID
    3. green card
    4. military ID or
    5. passport.

    No other identification will be accepted. Information will be electronically transferred to the Oregon Construction Contractors Board and will be again requested at the time the mandated test is taken.

SPECIAL OFFER: A spouse or partner who will not be obtaining a contractor’s license may attend with the student at no charge to help them study for the test. Contact the Small Business Development Center at (541) 956-7494 and provide the information for the person attending with you so we can enter their registration information.

Classes cover all 14 chapters in the NASCLA Oregon Manual:

Oregon Construction Contractor Laws and Regulations, Contract Law, Oregon construction Lien Law, Oregon Building Codes, Choosing Your Business Structure, Bidding and Estimating, Scheduling and Project Management, Hiring and Managing Employees, Working With Subcontractors, Financial Management and Tax Basics, Job Site Safety and more.
