SOREDI Offers Targeted Economic Forecast and Critical Tax Law Changes for 2019 at Southern Oregon Business Conference

In a year that promises to be tumultuous in terms of domestic politics and international policies, Tim Duy returns to offer an Economic Forecast and indicators targeting Southern Oregon. Sponsored by KeyBank, Duy is the Senior Director of the Oregon Economic Forum and author of the University of Oregon Statewide Economic Indicators and Economic Indicators for Southern Oregon, Central Oregon, and other specific regions. He is also the author of two blogs; Tim Duy’s FedWatch and Economist’s View. Southern Oregon Business Conference (SOBC) 2019: Igniting Innovation, will be held Thursday, Jan. 31 at Inn at the Commons in Medford. Hosted by SOREDI, tickets for SOREDI members are available for $60. Non-member tickets are $75. Full details and registration are available at www.soredi.org/events.

Duy’s Southern Oregon Regional Forecast is made possible by returning annual sponsor, KeyBank. “We return each year as a proud sponsor of SOREDI’S Business Conference because of its potential to supercharge local businesses as they set goals for the coming year,” said Michelle Weisenbach, president of KeyBank in Oregon and Southwest Washington. “Southern Oregon is a vitally important market to KeyBank, and we appreciate the opportunity to help deliver high-impact information to the local business community.”

In addition to this timely economic forecast, Rob O’Neill and Dan LaPour from Moss Adams’ Portland office will share the ramifications of the recent Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. A few dozen tax law changes have recently gone into effect, and it’s very likely that every business will be affected. Changes to tax brackets revised income and other deductions, revision of excess business loss, net operating loss carryback, meals and entertainment deductions, depreciation and expensing, and new and revised tax credits will impact the way you file your taxes this year. It’s essential that Southern Oregon businesses are aware of these changes. Attend Southern Oregon Business Conference and ask questions of these Portland tax experts from Moss Adams.

Rounding out the conference, Mary Hebert, a professional site selector specializing in relocating tech companies nationally and internationally will tell us what her clients value in a community when they seek to relocate. And John Darrow, Senior Principal Engineer at Amazon.com will share how he tracks and motivates over 2000 employees on his time, most of them under the age of thirty.
