Southern Oregon Wildfire & Visitor Perception Survey

SOREDI has been pleased to act as the fiscal agent for a grant from the Governor’s Office Local Economic Opportunity Fund (LEOF) to Travel Southern Oregon, in the amount of $51,850, for the purpose of conducting this study.  The Southern Oregon Wildfire & Visitor Perception Study tells the story of visitors to our region, the impact that smoke from wildfires has on their experience and decision-making, and their perception of Southern Oregon as a travel destination.

SOREDI’s Executive Director, Colleen Padilla states, “SOREDI is a strong supporter of our tourism partners. We recognize the impact of wildfire and smoke system wide – for citizens, visitors, and especially our business community. We look forward to determining, along with Travel Southern Oregon and many other partners, actionable  and measurable steps to ensure our local economy is resilient during wildfire season.”

Bob Hacket, Associate Director for Travel Southern Oregon says, “This report is the culmination of much hard work by many people. Please feel free to share this within your communities as a resource for tourism industry partners. Many thanks to our partners at SOURCE who produced this report, we think it looks fabulous.”
