In Southern Oregon, water could be considered as valuable as gold, if not more valuable. KOBI5 reported that the City of Medford and regional leaders have taken a “major step forward in ensuring that demand is met well into the future.”

The Robert A. Duff Water Treatment Plant has received a major upgrade and is officially online after the October 1 ribbon cutting hosted by the Medford Water Commission. Thanks to a $78 million project designed to protect the region’s future water supply, this newly designed infrastructure supports growth and expansion as the region continues to grow. Output went from 45 million gallons per day to 65 million gallons per day, with processes and equipment in placed to provide uninterrupted service, even in the light of a natural disaster.

Included in this new project – advanced filtration systems, a new reservoir, and pump station.

As SOREDI works to attract new business and industry to Southern Oregon, this infrastructure upgrade is another positive step toward continued strong economic growth and stability.
