Business Boom in Grants Pass

KDRV reported June 12, 2025 —

GRANTS PASS, Ore. – Grants Pass is experiencing a business boom, with 67 new business licenses issued in just the past three months. The Grants Pass & Josephine County Chamber of Commerce say it’s a sign of growing confidence in the local economy and the region’s appeal to both first time and seasoned entrepreneurs.

“While Oregon as a whole is sometimes perceived as a tough climate for doing business, rural Oregon tells a different story,” Terry Hopkins, President and CEO of the Grants Pass & Josephine County Chamber of Commerce, shared with NewsWatch 12. “Towns like Grants Pass are proving that small communities can be incredibly business-friendly. Here, neighbors support neighbors, and there’s a genuine culture of collaboration between local government, entrepreneurs, and fellow businesses.”

Among those new businesses is The Lonely Pine, a café opened just days ago by 25 year old Quentin and 19 year old Penelope Buck. They are siblings who grew up in Grants Pass and are now making their dreams come true.

“We’re both born and raised here,” Quentin said. “It all kind of started when I worked at Dutch Bros ten years ago. That job opened my eyes to what a local business could be and now here we are, starting something of our own.”
