March 2018 Employment for Jackson County

Total payroll employment rose by 460 jobs in March . The most significant gains were estimated in leisure and hospitality (+21 0) and retail trade (+150) . The only published industries with estimated job losses were private education and health services ( – 80), information ( – 20) , and financial activities

( – 10) . The “goods – producing” indus tries including construction (+9 0), manufact uring (+2 0), and mining and logging (+20) continued to add jobs with the start of spring . Government employment rose by 60 jobs over the month, with most of the gain attributed to hiring in local government education.   Read more….
