Member News: RVTD Groundbreaking for New Digs

Noted in their Fall 2023 publication, RVTD broke ground last month on their new transportation building located at their main campus. This is the largest capital project in their 50-year history. This new facility will greatly increase efficiency of operations for their 80 drivers.

A $12.5 million grant was received from the Federal Transit Administration in 2021 for construction. An additional $1.5 million was set aside in Oregon Statewide Transportation Improvement Funds (STIF) to ensure completion of the project. SOREDI member Outlier Construction was awarded the project.

Once completed, a large dispatch area will provide needed space for drivers to begin and end their shifts housing lockers, a break room, and a dedicated training room for ongoing certification and safety training. The current campus does not adequality house and serve the existing personnel and fleet of 45 buses and will allow expansion to an anticipated 60-bus fleet by 2040.
