Member News: Work Sharp Sharpens their Market Share

Grant Loberg recently shared with SOREDI, “Work Sharp Manufacturing (WSMFG) has cleared a significant milestone on our path to expand manufacturing capabilities for knives in Southern Oregon. After months of preparation, we’ve completed full testing of our new Omtech laser cutter, and our engineering team has successfully finished training on machine operation. This capability will enable us to begin cutting blade steel blanks in-house—a key step toward bringing more of our production process under one roof and increasing our capacity to serve customers. These blanks will be machined and ultimately ground at WSMFG as we continue to build out our full manufacturing workflow, improving throughput and yields through the assembly process, while allowing us to speed up product development by months.”

“In addition to the laser cutter, we’re in the final stages of completing the tombstone fixtures for our VF4-SS mill, which will allow us to machine handle components for an upcoming knife design slated for release in June 2026. We have added a Senior Machinist to provide additional bandwidth, as we expand equipment that will allow us to chase demand, and this was his first project. Super fun to be expanding our capability in the Rogue Valley.”

Southern Oregon has a strong manufacturing component to its economic structure and innovation has been a critical piece to that manufacturing strength. Congratulations to Work Sharp for their continued innovation and expansion!
