Medford City Council unanimously approved adding to the November ballot a 2% transient tax increase from 11% to 13% and is intended to help seed funds for the new Creekside Quarter project. This is a $500 million private-public project with hopes to include a minor league baseball stadium, conference center, hotels, and other amenities near Bear Creek and Hawthorne Park.

This project also is part of a long-term plan to revitalize downtown Medford.

The proposed baseball park would be home to the relocated Eugene Emeralds, a High-A minor team of the San Francisco Giants.
