IVCanDO offers small business recovery grants

$380,000 available to mitigate effects of COVID-19 for small businesses in Josephine County

JOSEPHINE COUNTY, OR – The Illinois Valley Community Development Organization (IVCanDO) is pleased to announce a special grant opportunity for small businesses in House District 3. $380,000 from Oregon’s Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Fund will be distributed to increase economic support for those impacted by the pandemic. Small businesses, located in, or primarily serving, House District 3 (which encompasses the bulk of Josephine County) are encouraged to apply for grants from $2,000-$10,000.

Applications open March 23, 2022, and will be accepted until April 15, 2022. Submissions will be reviewed by a panel using criteria set forth by the US Treasury. More information on the criteria can be found through a link on the application.

Proposals may include relief for decreased revenue or gross receipts, financial insecurity, increased costs, capacity to weather financial hardship, challenges covering payroll, rent/mortgage and other operating costs. Eligible businesses must have been operating or starting operations between March 2020 and the application deadline.

Small businesses in designated areas called Qualified Census Tracts have opportunities for expanded uses of the funds, such as:

● Rehabilitation of commercial properties, storefront and facade improvements

● Technical assistance, start-up or expansion costs

● For businesses with 5 or fewer employees: financial, childcare and transportation costs in order to operate the business.

Qualified Census Tracts in House District 3 include the Illinois Valley, Wonder, Wilderville, Williams, and areas of Grants Pass.

A streamlined application can be submitted electronically, or applicants may obtain and submit a paper application. Applications are available in English and Spanish.
