Save the Date, SOREDI Announces “Disruption” in January 2017

Southern Oregon Regional Economic Development, Inc. (SOREDI) is pleased to announce the 2017 Southern Oregon Business Conference (SOBC) to be held January 26, 2017 will feature international leader in economic development, Jon Roberts.

Jon Roberts, TIP Strategies
Jon Roberts, TIP Strategies

Roberts, Principal at TIP Strategies provides strategic direction to communities and regions across the country. He has overseen projects throughout the U.S., as well as in Europe and Asia. In addition to being an active economic development practitioner, he has prepared policy papers on national economic development strategy and the future of jobs, as well a myriad of other accomplishments.

The program for the 2017 SOBC, titled “Disruption,” will explore the way disruptive technologies are transforming the very definition of jobs, both for workers and for those who work in the field of job-creation. If you’ve ever wondered, “Who’s job is it to create new jobs?” or “Why do I keep hearing about the recovery, when I don’t see any jobs available?” or “What is the gig-economy and how does that work?” you won’t want to miss this presentation.

Colleen Padilla, Executive Director of SOREDI says, “I heard Jon’s presentation on disruptive technologies and the future of job creation last April at a strategic planning conference. I think our local environment is poised to embrace the new economy where traditional job-creation tactics and metrics no longer apply. I was so pleased to discover that he’s available to come share this disruptive news with us in January.”
