Edith Decker from the Grants Pass Daily Courier reported that on January 1, 2024, Southern Oregon Sanitation successfully transferred ownership to the 3rd generation, which is a rare occurrence in modern business.
In this photo is Trent Carpenter, new co-owner and son-in-law to former 2nd generation owner Pat Fahey. Nick Fahey, son to Pat Fahey, is also the new co-owner. Carpenter is the company’s general manger who began with SOS in Merlin 30 years ago. Nick Fahey, son to Pat Fahey, is director of government affairs.
SOS has been serving Josephine and Jackson counties since 1948 and currently has over 27,000 customers and 70 employees.
Not only does SOS operate a successful transfer station but is celebrating a one-year anniversary as owners of the street sweeping company once owned by Dan Kirkman. They are now in a position to expand this business.
SOS is in the process of building a new site in Eagle Point and shifting the truck parking and headquarters location to make room to expand the current recycling and transfer centers in Grants Pass.
Carpenter noted to stay tuned for a new law coming to unify recycling rules across Oregon.
Southern Oregon Sanitation is a long-standing member of SOREDI and we celebrate this success with you! Nick Fahey is a member of the SOREDI Board of Directors.
