SOU Updates from President Bailey

Holly Dillemuth, of Ashland.News, reported on the March 2024 SOU update by President Rick Bailey.

Preparation for the new student hall and senior living community is tentatively set to be finished by 2027. First things first with the piece-by-piece demolition of Cascade Hall, originally built between 1960 and 1966. The result will include a new revenue stream for the university, helping mitigate the load on student tuition. This will also be a lifelong learning enterprise for both students and senior residents. There will be daily interactions and a number of inclusive activities that will benefit both students and residents. To read more about this creative and meaningful venture click here

Bailey also talked about the SOU Forward plan, the steps of realignment for the future of the university, the community garden, the strengthened partnership with OSF, returning to sister city Guanajuato with new Provost, Dr. Casey Shillam, and the new softball complex.
