SOREDI Development manager, Jaymes Tadlock has been actively engaging Southern Oregon’s three higher ed institutions, Oregon Tech, Southern Oregon University, and most recently, Rogue Community College. Tadlock is committed to creating connections between SOREDI and the many partners here in Southern Oregon working together to make this a great place to live, work and do business.
These higher ed tours have been focusing on workforce solutions, presenting the top-quality education programs to these partners, and finding solutions to the continued challenge of a qualified and skilled workforce here in our region.
At the recent RCC Redwood and Table Rock campus tours, SOREDI, along with partners Business Oregon, Rogue Workforce Partnership, and Worksource Rogue Valley, toured the campus to learn more about the medical program offerings in dental and medical assistant, nursing, EMT, basic health care, and pharmacy technician programs. Also included was an emergency simulator room, complete with video, sounds and smells to capture as much as possible what could happen in a real emergency room.
The welding and tooling programs presented the group with an overview of what students will learn while in the program and what they will take away to bring into the workforce.
Tadlock had two top take aways from these three tours. First are the high-quality education programs we have right here in Southern Oregon to prepare students for a career here or in any location they choose. There is a high need for qualified medical and technical professionals here and all three of these institutions are answering the call with their current programing and their future plans for additional program offerings.
Second, he noted how much we can accomplish when we stay connected to the Southern Oregon pulse, know what the industry needs are, learn what each partner is specialized in, and continue to explore together ways to mitigate challenges when the economy landscape continues to shift and turn.
Huge kudos to our three institutions of higher education, also members of SOREDI, Oregon Tech, Rogue Community College, and Southern Oregon University Thank you for all you’re doing for Southern Oregon!
And huge kudos to our partners Business Oregon, Rogue Workforce Partnership, and Worksource Rogue Valley for participating in these tours and for providing the leadership needed to move these efforts forward.
